I was surprised to see that WhatsApp was kind enough to give me free additional six months.
My expiration date for the first year was October 16 2012 which was extended to 16 Apr 2013.

Same here, until February 2014. 1 year extended. I wonder why? Don't mind paying as the service is invaluable to me. And what's a dollar? Pocket change. Thanks WhatsApp!

So my service has been expiring for the past year, but every time it tells me if I want to pay now or later I keep pressing later and it just keeps renewing itself. Would it hurt any if I keep doing it that way?

@Anonymous: They would quit doing this, they extended by account by 18 months. However I paid for a year and they extended my account for two years. Its good to pay them as to keep the service active as people work at Whatsapp need to be paid.

Can I still see my past messages after expiry?

@Anonymous: Yes, you can get all the messages after expiry in WhatsApp provided you don't delete the whatsapp folder on your internal memory (or sd card).

All messages are stored in an xml file inside these folder.
