How to delete a Google and how to delete a Gmail account

If your intention is to delete a Google or Gmail account, both don't mean the same.

A Gmail account is part of a bigger Google account.




How to delete a Gmail account?

1. Sign in to your Gmail account.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Accounts in the Settings menu bar.
4. Click Google Account settings.
5. Click the Edit link next to 'My products.'

6. Click Delete Gmail Service and fill in the required fields.

How to delete a Google Account?

1. Sign in to your Gmail account.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Accounts in the Settings menu bar.
4. Click Google Account settings.
5. Click the Edit link next to 'My products.'
6. Click Close account and delete all services and info associated with it.

It is important to remember that a Gmail account is part of a bigger Google account. If you delete a Gmail account you still have your Google account which has other services like Google docs.  However if you delete your entire Google account, all Google related services will be deleted.
