As you know Twitter is facing a lot of problems ranging from security to generating a healthy source of income.


What will happen if Twitter fails?





There are a large number of websites that depend on Twitter. Right from TwitPic to Twitter advertising services.

They will be the first casualities. The users will just move on.
Remember what happen to Orkut. Although Orkut is hugely popular, the number of users joining the Google's social networking site are dropping.
The users have found a suitable alternative in Facebook.

The concepts put forward by Twitter will stay

The concept of URL shorteners is the biggest contribution by Twitter to the internet. You don't have to know a person to be his/her followers. The concept of followers is just brilliant.


But do we care if Twitter fails?
A big no comes to my mind because we will just move on.
Nothing lasts forever.
