The service pack 3 for Windows Xp was released by Microsoft a couple of months ago.
However the update is far from satisfactory.Firstly you cannot install internet explorer 7 (IE7)by downloading its setup files from the Windows website.You can only install it via automatic downloads.

In addition there are reports that the service pack 3 has problems during installation on AMD based machines.
So wait till Microsoft releases a stable variant of the service pack 3 software via automatic updates.
